About this approach
Waldorf education was founded by Rudolf Steiner and emphasises artistic and practical work alongside academic subjects. The schools follow the same curriculum as other schools.
How Skolkoll finds the units
A unit counts when the unit's name at Skolverket (the school unit register or, for preschools, the preschool statistics) or the operator's business description at the Swedish Companies Registration Office (Bolagsverket) mentions Waldorf or Rudolf Steiner. The description covers the whole operator and is missing for municipalities and some independent operators, so their units are found by name only. Units that do not say so are missing – among them several well-known Waldorf schools, which is why no Waldorf upper-secondary schools are found here.
Where they are
What the data can and cannot tell
Families who actively choose a particular approach often differ from other families, for example in level of education. Differences in results between the groups therefore do not show what the approach itself achieves. Compare individual schools rather than approaches – the comparisons below show how large the differences are and why they should be read with care.
