Action programme (Åtgärdsprogram)

A formal document describing the support interventions a student receiving special support will get. Decided by the principal.

An action programme (åtgärdsprogram) is a formal document drawn up for students who need special support. The programme describes which measures are to be put in place, who is responsible, and how follow-up will be conducted.

Process

The action programme is preceded by an investigation of the student's support needs. The principal makes the decision. The student and guardians must be involved in the design. The programme must be reviewed regularly and revised as needed.

Appeals

Decisions regarding an action programme — or a decision not to establish one — can be appealed to the School Appeals Board (Skolväsendets överklagandenämnd). This is an important legal safeguard for students and parents.
