Who decides the school year dates?

Each provider decides its own school year. Municipalities set the dates for their municipal schools, and every independent provider sets its own — which is why dates differ between neighbouring schools, and why a municipality listed here does not cover its independent schools.

Summer is not a published holiday record: it is simply the absence of a term. The table therefore shows the date the spring term ends — the summer holiday starts the following day.
