A final project in upper secondary school demonstrating that the pupil can apply the programme's knowledge. Required for graduation.

The upper secondary thesis (gymnasiearbete) is a final project carried out during the last year of upper secondary school. The project must demonstrate that the pupil can apply knowledge and competences from their programme. A passing thesis is required for graduation.

Scope

The thesis corresponds to 100 upper secondary credits. On academic programmes, the thesis should resemble an academic report. On vocational programmes, it should demonstrate professional skills — for example by planning and carrying out a work task. The thesis is assessed as pass or fail (no letter grades).
