Newly arrived pupils' rights (Nyanlända elevers rättigheter)

Newly arrived pupils are entitled to assessment, prioritised Swedish instruction, study guidance in their mother tongue, and an adapted study plan.

Newly arrived pupils have several special rights under the Education Act during their first four years in Swedish school:

Assessment of knowledge and prior experience
Individual study plan
Prioritised timetable (more Swedish, less in other subjects)
Study guidance in the mother tongue
Adapted instruction in Swedish as a second language
Placement in a preparatory class when needed
