A special-needs educator (specialpedagog) has completed an advanced special-education programme (90 ECTS credits) and works to identify, assess, and address barriers to learning. The special-needs educator often works at the organisational level — providing guidance to teachers, contributing to school development, and conducting assessments.
Difference from a special teacher
While the special-needs educator focuses on assessment, guidance, and the organisational level, the special teacher works more directly with teaching students. Both roles are part of the student health team and complement each other.
