National tests in mathematics

Mandatory tests in mathematics in years 3, 6, and 9 and in upper secondary school. Cover arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and statistics.

National tests in mathematics are administered in years 3, 6, and 9 as well as in upper secondary courses Mathematics 1–4. The tests are developed by Stockholm University and cover arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and problem-solving.

Structure

The tests consist of several sub-tests — typically one oral, one without a calculator, and one with a calculator. The tests are designed to cover the full breadth of the syllabus. In year 3, only whether the student has reached an acceptable level is assessed (no letter grades are given).
