A skolkurator (school counsellor) is a social worker who is part of the student health team. The counsellor works on psychosocial issues — providing individual counselling to students, crisis interventions, liaising with social services, and preventive work against bullying and vulnerability.
Responsibilities
The school counsellor provides individual sessions, group interventions, and advice to staff and parents. The counsellor has a duty of confidentiality but also a mandatory reporting obligation if there is suspicion that a child is being harmed. Every school must have access to a counsellor according to the Education Act.
