Resource school (Resursskola)

A school or programme for pupils with extensive support needs, e.g. neurodevelopmental conditions.

A resource school (resursskola) is a school or teaching group specialised for pupils with extensive support needs — such as neurodevelopmental conditions (NPF), social difficulties, or school absenteeism.

Organisation

Resource schools typically have small classes (5–8 pupils), high staff density, and specialised expertise. Since 2022, resource schools are regulated in the Education Act as a separate category of independent school. Placement in a resource school requires that the regular school cannot provide sufficient support.
