Open leisure activities (Öppen fritidsverksamhet)

Activities for students aged 10–13 as an alternative to after-school centres. No enrolment required.

Open leisure activities (Swedish: öppen fritidsverksamhet) are a complement or alternative to after-school centres for students aged 10 to 13. Unlike after-school centres, they require no enrolment — students can come and go freely.

Organisation

The municipality is obliged to offer open leisure activities for students of an age who are no longer entitled to after-school centre places (typically from age 10). The activities should offer meaningful leisure and support in development.
