Matematiklyftet (the Maths Boost) was the National Agency for Education's professional development programme for mathematics teachers in compulsory and upper secondary school. The programme ran from 2012 to 2016 and was Sweden's largest professional development initiative in mathematics.
Implementation
Matematiklyftet was based on collaborative professional learning with maths mentors at each school. Teachers worked with modules developed by researchers and tried new teaching methods. Evaluations show that the programme had positive effects on teachers' instruction.
