Holiday school (Lovskola)

Instruction during school holidays for pupils at risk of not qualifying. Municipalities receive government grants for holiday school.

Holiday school (lovskola) means that pupils are offered instruction during school holidays — typically summer, Easter, or autumn breaks. Since 2017, school providers are required to offer holiday school to pupils in years 8 and 9 who are at risk of not qualifying for upper secondary school.

Scope

Holiday school comprises at least 50 hours and focuses on the subjects the pupil needs to achieve eligibility. Municipalities and independent schools receive government grants to organise holiday school. Participation is voluntary for the pupil.
