A curriculum (läroplan) is a governing document that describes the school's mission, overarching goals, and guidelines. The curriculum is established by the government and contains syllabi with grading criteria for each subject.

The latest revision (Lgr22) introduced changes including renaming knowledge requirements to grading criteria, increasing the emphasis on facts and subject content, and giving teachers greater freedom to make holistic assessments.
