Knowledge requirements (Swedish: kunskapskrav, since Lgr22 called grading criteria / betygskriterier) describe what a student must know to achieve a certain grade in a subject. The requirements are found in the syllabi and are formulated for grade levels A, C and E. Grades B and D are awarded when the student meets the criteria for the lower level and predominantly meets the criteria for the higher level.
Lgr22 — new terminology
In the revised curriculum Lgr22, the term "kunskapskrav" (knowledge requirements) was changed to "betygskriterier" (grading criteria) to more clearly signal that the criteria should serve as support for assessment, not a checklist. The teacher should make a holistic assessment of the student's knowledge in the subject.
