GIA — Upper secondary admissions

Regional collaboration on upper secondary admissions. Municipalities cooperate on a shared admissions system.

Upper secondary admissions (gymnasieantagningen) take place regionally, with municipalities cooperating on a shared admissions system. In the Stockholm region it is called GIA, in Gothenburg GR Utbildning, and in Skåne there is Skånes gymnasieantagning.

Process

The student ranks their programme choices in an online application. Admissions are based on merit points. The first choice is given priority, and if the student is not admitted to their first choice, the next choice is considered in order. Admissions decisions are typically issued in June/July.
