Absence reporting (frånvarorapportering) means that the school registers and follows up on pupils' absences. According to the Education Act, the principal must ensure that guardians are informed the same day if a pupil has an unauthorised absence.
Systems
Most schools use digital systems (e.g. Skolplattformen, IST, Edlevo) where absences are registered and guardians are notified via SMS or app. The system should detect patterns of repeated absence early so that the school can act preventively.
