Lead teacher (förstelärare) is a career position for particularly skilled teachers, introduced in 2013. The lead teacher has expanded responsibility for pedagogical development at the school and receives a salary supplement of at least SEK 5,000 per month.

Funding

Career positions are funded through government grants. The school provider decides which teachers are appointed as lead teachers. The requirement is at least four years of teaching experience and documented skilled instruction. The purpose is to make the teaching profession more attractive and to spread effective teaching methods.
