The pupil funding model (elevpengsmodell) describes how the municipality distributes financial resources to its schools. There are different models: equal per pupil (all receive the same amount) or needs-based (schools with more challenging conditions receive more).
Socioeconomic weighting
An increasing number of municipalities use socioeconomic weighting — schools with many pupils from disadvantaged areas receive more money per pupil. The weighting is often based on parents' education level, income, and migration background.
