Student influence and school democracy (Elevinflytande)

Students' right to influence their education and school environment. Regulated by the Education Act and curriculum.

Elevinflytande (student influence) means that students should have the opportunity to influence their education and school environment. According to the Education Act and the curriculum, students must be given influence over the design of their education.

Forms

Student influence can take the form of class councils, student councils, mentor sessions, and participation in lesson planning. Students' views must be considered in relation to their age and maturity. In upper secondary school, students should have influence over course selection and examination formats.
