The Discrimination Act (Diskrimineringslagen, 2008:567) prohibits discrimination and harassment in educational settings. The act covers seven grounds of discrimination: gender, transgender identity or expression, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation, and age.
The school's responsibility
Schools must conduct active preventive work against discrimination and harassment. The Equality Ombudsman (DO) exercises supervision. The Child and School Student Representative (BEO) handles degrading treatment that falls outside the Discrimination Act.
