Differentiated instruction (Differentierad undervisning)

Adapting instruction to students' varying prior knowledge, interests, and learning styles within the same class.

Differentiated instruction (differentierad undervisning) means that the teacher adapts content, methods, or forms of assessment to meet students' varying needs and levels within the same class. It is not about lowering expectations but about offering different pathways to the same knowledge goals.

Methods

Differentiation can take the form of level-adapted tasks, optional areas for deeper study, various support structures (scaffolding), flexible groupings, and varied forms of examination. Research supports differentiation as an effective strategy for reaching all students.
