Ämnesövergripande undervisning (cross-curricular teaching) means that teachers collaborate around shared themes that illuminate questions from multiple subjects' perspectives — for example, sustainable development, migration, or citizenship.

The curriculum states that schools should work cross-curricular on certain knowledge areas. At the same time, the Lgr22 revision more clearly emphasises subject-specific knowledge and progression. Balancing subject depth with cross-curricular breadth is a pedagogical challenge.
